About Jutogh

Jutogh is a small region of Shimla (in the west of Shimla), at a distance of 7 kms, and located in the Himachal Pradesh which is on the northern part of India. This place was considered as one of the 1st military cantonments that were constructed during the British period. The language spoken here are mainly ‘Pahari’ and ‘Hindi’. However, even English is commonly known by these people.

Jutogh is very near to the other places like - Dhainda, Totu, and Hira Nagar are the places which are just 1 Km from Jutogh. While the ‘Chailly’ and ‘Chaily’ are the places which are just 2 Kms from this Jutogh. Also, Shimla, Kalka and other places like Solan and Baddi are near to this town. Jutogh was one of the first military cantonments built during the British period.

Geography of Jutogh

A research has been made that, Jutogh lies between the latitude of 31.1° N and longitude of 77.12° E at 5672 feet just above the medium level of the sea.


And there are Jutogh rocks which are surrounded from the rocks of the Series of Chail, in a good structurally manner. While the structure of these rocks are in meso-structures, and these Jutogh Series rocks in the Shimla region will get involve in folding the 3 generations as well as the 2 phases of metamorphism.
