Geography of Jutogh

Jutogh is a small military station located just about 2 miles from the western side of Shimla in Himachal Pradesh. While, the Jutogh Cantonment Board governs the Jutogh, a town (also considered as a city as well as village) which is filled with 112.62 Acres of total green area. Wherein, this region is located above the sea level (1,729 meters).

The Jutogh city which lies between the latitude of 31.1000 N and longitude of 77.1167, has been well-known for its population. This village has the highest population, compared to other places of Shimla, and lies in the Asia or Pacific region and its population is counted to 2,467.

Geographical location of Jutogh

While the Indian Government conducts a Population Survey every year to check the total population of Jutogh. The survey of 2011, says that the Jutogh' s total population in that year (2011 census) is 2,062.

Topography of Jutogh

The topography of Jutogh includes hills of Jutogh which is just about 6 kms from the western end of the Elysium Hill and is nearest to the Boileauganj that lies on the western side of Shimla. Bare of trees are covered by wide rocks. The city is also filled with other hills which have green slopes (grassy), along with red flowers, as well as rhododendrons.

Flora and Fauna in Jutogh

The state of Koti includes forests which have trees like blue pine, chil and oak upon the eastern slopes of Elysium Hill, and it is known as deodar forest of Naldera- the mixed pine, deodar amd oak forests round the Mashobra, and a fairly large area of very promising young deodar as well as pine between Mashobra and Kufri and all these trees now belongs to Jutogh fores division.

Climate in Jutogh

The climate is warm and temperate in Jutogh. In winter there is much less rainfall than in summer. The average annual temperature in Jutogh is 15.7 °C. About 1329 mm of precipitation falls annually.

The November month is considered as the driest month with 12 mm. While, the most precipitation falls in July, which is just an average of 371 mm.

The warmest month of the year is June with an average temperature of 22.7°C. In January, the average temperature is 7 °C. It is the lowest average temperature of the whole year.

There is a minor difference in the precipitation of driest and wettest month. This seems to be apprx.  359 mm. While, the average temperatures differ during the year by 15.7° C.
